Elmendorf AFB, AK

All officers and enlisted soldiers must report to the North Star Inn on arrival. The Personnel Center is located at 7135 Fighter Drive Bldg Number . You can reach them at 907-552-2454 or DSN 552-2454.

You can expect to be with the detachment for 5 days. When you get signed in, you will receive a billeting assignment, bedding and a temporary meal card if you are not on separate rations. If your family arrives with you, North Star Inn will help make them comfortable during your inprocessing. To make things easier with attaining temporary housing for your family, please make reservations at North Star Inn. (907)552-2454.

You should have all of your personal records on hand. Personnel, Finance, Medical and Dental. You must be in uniform to inprocess. The duty uniform at Elmendorf AFB, AK is BDUs. Be sure that you have enough uniforms with you to begin duties after inprocessing.

Inprocessing Procedures

When you arrive on base, report to the North Star Inn (Lodging). This is the 24 hour reporting point. The staff at the Inn has a list of contact personnel from each unit. Contact your unit and let them know you are here. Initial inprocessing starts in your unit. Unaccompanied and single members, E-4 and below, will normally reside in the dormitory. Make sure your sponsor arranges for a dorm room for you at least 5 days prior to your arrival.

Married personnel will be assigned temporary lodging, if you have a reservation. Advanced reservations are highly recommended. Your sponsor can help make the reservations for you if you authorize it. A copy of your orders will be needed and you can fax them to your sponsor. It is also recommended to follow up on your reservations to insure the North Star Inn has it.

After you are settled into temporary quarters or a dorm room, report to your Commanders Support Staff (CSS) as soon as possible. Your unit will then schedule you for inprocessing at the Arctic Warrior Orientation Center (AWOC). The AWOC is located in the same building as the North Star Inn.

First Term Airmen Center (FTAC)

The Elmendorf AFB FTAC is a program to aid first duty station airmen in transitioning from basic military and technical training to a mission-oriented environment. Newly assigned first duty station airmen will be assigned to the FTAC after they complete inprocessing at the Arctic Warrior Orientation Center and prior to reporting to their unit of assignment for duty.
